With the patient in mind
The Flowtron IPC system is designed to achieve a high level of patient acceptance – a critical factor in achieving positive DVT outcomes.

  • Garments are constructed from lightweight, breathable fabric providing maximum comfort and helping to prevent build-up of heat and moisture.
  • Ultra-quiet pump means little or no disturbance for the patient, aiding rest and recovery.
  • Default/recommended therapy settings are intended to achieve optimal patient outcomes with minimum interference to the patient’s rest and comfort.

With the carer in mind
A series of features make the system easy to use at the point of delivery, saving valuable time and effort for carers.

  • Auto Garment Recognition – the system adjusts pressure automatically according to garment type.
  • Single patient use garments are easy to apply. Hook and loop fixings ensure a secure and snug fit, yet easy to adjust.
  • The LCD User Interface provides instant feedback, clearly indicating system set-up, therapy status and actual pressure delivered.

Using Flowtron
The Flowtron IPC system is suitable for DVT prophylaxis in acute care settings, in the pre-, intra-, and post-surgery phases, as a sole agent or when combined with a pharmacological agent.

Contraindications
IPC should NOT be used in the following conditions:

  • Severe arteriosclerosis or other ischaemic vascular diseases
  • Known or suspected acute DVT or phlebitis
  • Severe congestive cardiac failure (CCF) or any condition where an increase of fluid to the heart may be detrimental
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Any local condition in which garments would interfere, for example:
    gangrene, untreated, infected leg wounds, recent skin graft, dermatitis
    Local regulations may apply
